The Village of Leonard is served by the Addison Township Fire Department. The original Fire Station #1 was located in downtown Leonard and the new Fire Station #1, built to replace the former Station remains in the Village as well. The Fire Department maintains a strong relationship with Leonard, and the Annual Strawberry Festival is the culmination of the work and fun that started in 1949 when the Fire Department was formed.
The Fire Department serves the Village through millages passed township wide to support their operations.

The Village of Leonard is served by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department under the leadership of Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
The Sheriff Deputies patrol the Village of Leonard as part of the contract between the Sheriff and Addison Township funded by a special millage for police protection that is township wide.
